Can download music/access AIM but can't view webpages

    I just bought a Linksys Compact G Wireless Adapter to connect to our wireless router. I installed the adapter and it found our network and connection strength is excellent. I can access AOL instant messenger and Ares Galaxy to download music but whenever I try to go on Internet Explorer it will not connect and it says that I am not connected to the internet. I have tried several sites and nothing connects. Help please! This is getting frustrating...

    Hi

    What Windows version are you using and what IE version?

    Do you have a software firewall installed? if so what one and chack its application menu to see if its accidently blocked IE, ether set it to allow or delete the entry and close and re-open IE and when it mentions IE wants to connect to the net make sure you allow always.

    Use CCleaner and delete the temp files, its the Cleaner option, then try IE again

    Also try Firefox to see if that connects ok.

    Windows XP... I think IE version 7

    i tried turning off the firewall but nothing changed... I will try again

    I would try Firefox but I don't have it on my computer so I would need the internet to get it lol... trauma two-fer

    I have ccleaner i will give that a shot... thanks

    anymore info would be appreciated...

    Hi

    Dont want to be a smart assss lol... but how you posting on this forum without internet? on that PC that you are using to post these messages, download firefox and transfer to the PC via USB pen, CD etc


    What firewall do you have? if its not the built in windows one, uninstall it to test this.

    Also boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and choose Safe Mode with networking and can you connect via IE to the internet?
