Can I Delete temporary files

Is it safe to delete all files in the following folders:

1. C:\windows\temp
there are alot of folders ending in .dir in this and alot of .tmp files


2. C:\windows\temporary internet files
there are alot of cookies in this folder and also .gif and .jpg files

I, personally, let CCleaner delete all that crap for me. I'm not an expert on C:\windows\temp, but the C:\windows\temporary internet files are just stuff from sites that you've visited. The cookies and .jpgs just let your computer reload those sites faster when you visit them again. You don't need them. When you use CCleaner though, you'll notice that you have to re-logon to any membership sites to be recognized, because you've knocked off their cookies too!

yes safe to delete but make sure that no applications using internet are opened like msn, yahoo, etc.

 

I also use CCleaner, but I go into Options and put the cookies I want (like MG etal) in the column 'Cookies to Keep'. You can do this with Spybot S&D too if you have it.

after every net session. These will clean out all the crap. As per previous post, CC has an option toi save various cookies from being wiped. I don't bother. I just wipe everything and logon to a site if I have to. I would rather wipe all, every time.

All are free, don't conflict with each other, and are ESSENTIAL (IMHO) on any PC that logs onto the net. Bazza
