Can I DELETE this registry key?

YES -- I first asked this in the spyware forum. Major Attitude gave me one answer but when I ran RegCleaner this actual registry did not come up. He said I could use another reg. cleaner/option but I want to be sure my 3 actual questions are answered first. And hey, I'll number them and color code them as well to make it easy. Chose any one you want and answer back. Thanks everyone.

I have Windows XP, and have run SpyBot 1.3 rc5. I kinda run it a lot and over the last couple of weeks it constantly shows 1 problem only (thank goodness). This has come up before but now I've been wondering if there's a better solution than just having spybot "fix the problem"

It finds "MySearch" under one registry key. Then I hit "fix the problem", it does a backup, removes the problem, and we go on from there. Next time I run spybot, it finds it again in the EXACT SAME REGISTRY KEY. -- I think that's what you call it. ;) (I'm up to date on everything, run Ad-Aware, have SpyBlaster and Avast and Zone Alarm).

Question #1) Instead of having Spybot "fix the problem", Should I actually go into regedit and DELETE the key:
    Hkey classes root\CLSID\014DA 6C9-189F-421a-88CD-07CFE51CFF10 ???

Question #2) I mean, it it wasn't there, "MySearch" wouldn't get in it, right? But I'll admit, I'm clueless as to what this registry key is, does, exists for, etc. Or would "MySearch" just go elsewhere?

Question #3) And why didn't RegCleaner find it? (or is that not it's actual job?)

    advice please gentlemen and ladies?

    1: Yes

2: Use Regcleaner to make a registry backup, delte the key. Now you have a backup if theres a problem. RegCleaner also has some neat tools like a startup manager to make sure theres nothing relating to this in your startup.

3: RegCleaner and similar products look for invalid keys. All I can guess is it does not show as a bad key. Another program MIGHT see it differently.

Boy, you have come a long way since your first post :)

AlanC has a good point. I will admit I use an image, so System Restor is disabled on my machine, hence I often forget to mention it :(

    Okay - baby steps

Do you mean "turn off system restore, delete the reg key, turn system restore back on" ? because I wouldn't think I should run with my system restore off? (on, off, off, on...what?)

Anyway...I obviously like things written in steps don't I? Sorry, I'm a girl, what can I say?

    MySearch link

Hey, that looks helpful, I'll probably try this first (it has a lot in it to do - so if I screw it up, I'll come looking for you).

Oops, I had actually read that weeks before and copied and saved it in my Word documents (aren't I efficient). I just wasn't sure when you disabled - then when you re-enabled...but I guess it's rather obvious now. Thanks a lot for helping. I'm sure it'll be gone after all this.
