Are there ways that I can get my browser or computer to download a file a little at a time? I was dowloading some shareware the other day, and the electricity flickered, and although I had plenty of battery power, the file stopped dowloading. I had only 2 seconds left of a 14 megabyte download. As you have probably guess, I am using dialup.

I am running XP, IBM thinkpad, 600e, 576 MB RAM, 498 mghz Pentium III.

Due to the densly populated location I reside, my internet connection is only 28.8 kbs

Use a download manager which will allow you to stop and resume.

Unfortuantely, Internet Explorer doesn't have one built-in, but FireFox does.

There are plenty of freeware download managers like Download Accelertor Plus, Get Right, and Fresh Download.
