Can I flash bios to update USB 1 to 2.0?

I have an older Dell system 8200, and wondered if you can flash the bios to upgrade to USB 2.0, and what else you need to do.:confused

You cannot do that. If you want USB 2.0, you will have to buy a card.

Ah, ok, I actually have one installed, but its got the yellow ! tag, its not working. I did install the software, but it wont register..:confused

 

What is the make of the card and when you go into device manager and right click to select properties, what does it say? There may be a resource conflict or you may have to turn off your motherboard USB ports in BIOS.

Would a computer be unable to run both 1.1 and 2.0? Then I would just stick with the legacy....rolleyes

 

Hmmm, it wanted to find the drivers, so, for giggles, I put the CD back in, and whala. I gots me 4 USB 2.0 ports.

Buts I already installed de linux...slowly...:cry This was after I did a CD install, so....????



BUT, now they aren't showing up with the green arrow in the system tray. ??


Ahhhh, it kills the front and back 1.1 USB ports. so I still only have 4....

 

I am not sure I understand your question. You installed linux? So you no longer have Windows on your computer?

 

Well, I have Ubuntu on a sep partition, it still has Windows. I did it from the USB, (I think)

Ah, wait, there it is, the 1.1 are working, the eject just doesnt show in the tray, which would be nice.
