I service my pc, and other peoples computers all the time. & it's quite tedious especially when you have nothing else to do alone in a quiet room. Which is why I wanted to ask a simple question. Can I listen to my IPod while I service computers? Or could this cause some sort of static shock to components in my pc as I touch them?

I'm no expert which is why I'm asking...

    Thanks

    :p no youre ok.
you should be using an antistatic wrist band that you attach to the chassis or a floor mat anyway though.

Yes I use an anti static wrist band. But I unplug the power cord from the wall when I service my pc. So if there were any static on me [even though I wear the strap], where would it go? Doesn't there have to be some ground connection to the wall [ie: the power cord still being connected to the wall while the pc is off]?

Out through the strap and into whatever it is touching. Which should be the floor, desk, or PC case. :)
