Can I Lock The Task Manager?

I find myself repeatedly having to clear my Task Manager from newly added entries every few weeks (not all the time, but most times). Some stray entries will be added to trigger something at boot. I liked to keep everything running as minimal/optimized as possible, and hate any start StartUp apps from bogging down my boot times.

And while I try to keep most apps configed to not behave this way, sometimes they have a mind of their own and do it anyway. So I was wondering if there was a way to lock the Windows 10 Task Manager and force a program to either get permission to add a scheduled task first, or be denied if they try. I saw a task option in the Windows 10 settings menu, so not sure if that can be incorporated here somehow either.

 

You can control absolutely everything that can start automatically using Microsoft's Autoruns. Task Manager is only reporting what is running and the resources each is using, it is not determining what is running.

 

Thanks for this! Great program and I have added it to my arsenal (and used it to uncheck a few annoying things).

However, this doesn't seem to "lock" anything. Is there some way to force Windows approval first, so any/all programs trying to add a scheduled task of any kind to the Task Scheduler has to get approval from me first? Or at least tell me it's doing it? Some of these are there for weeks before I notice it during my monthly PC maintenance I always perform.
