Prebuilt systems like Compaq, Dell and the like of usually have crippled BIOS making for Poor OCing

If you dont have any Options in BIOS for OCing your CPU/Memory FSB, the only other way is by software
    Look here http://www.cpuid.org/clockgen.php
    and here
    http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?http://www.ocinside.de/html/links/ocsoft_links.html
I personally would only OC my CPU & Memory via BIOS options and if you dont have any I wouldnt but thats me.

For VC I'd suggest ATITool http://majorgeeks.com/ATITool_d4109.html or Riva Tuner http://majorgeeks.com/Riva_Tuner_d737.html
I dont think your VC will OC very well or not enough to even notice

Have you read the OC guide above: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=52812

If you can find your self an Retail NF2 based MOBO DFI, Abit or Asus those are proven socket A OCers

OCing can Kill your Hardware, if you cant afford to loose your Hardware, Don't ;)

thanks for the advice..... yeah my bios have nothing as far a OCing... im not wanting to max my stuff out by any means... just a small performance boost would be nice.... i did read the OC guide, gave me a better understanding of what im trying to do........ off the subject... i think i might have things running in the background.... when i go to task manager, there is always something runnin... and there is like 50 things in my processes box... thats a bad thing right??

sometimes it is bad, can be malware. However it can be somekind of bug, broken program or others. When you open the task manager go to the "processes" tab and sort them by "CPU". See the name of the process that is eating your CPU and let us know.

svchost is another i just found and x1exec.exe is another

avgas.exe is the process of the AVG anti-spyware which is apparently installed on your computer and 2% of the CPU is nothing to worry about especially for anti-spyware programs that have real time shields running all the time. I think the PC is fine :).

ooops I didn't see that post. svchost.exe is a good process as well but I've never heard or seen x1exec.exe before.
Perhaps you should take a walk in the Malware Removal forum. Make sure you follow all instructions in the Read and Run guide. If you do so and attach the logs correctly, a malware Geek will be happy to assist you.

    Good luck
