    Hi

Sadly the answer is NO as your Compaq Presario SR5325NL motherboard is a LGA775 and the Core i7 CPUs are LGA1366 socket format so the i7 CPU wont fit in the LGA socket.

The 2.2ghz Core 2 you have in there already is good, and the cost to add a new Core 2 Duo CPU wouldnt in the real world give you massive performance gains, personally save up for a later date and and possibly build your own Core i7 based PC.

But the spec list above tells you the supported CPUs and Intel Core 2 Quad (Yorkfield core) Q9xxx is top end one you can fit.

the new core i7 need the newer mothersboards, which are about 300dollars (220-300 actually) its a pricey investment, dont listent o anyone who says the core 2 or even quad cores are fast, cuz the core i7 is insanely fast. but pricey.

So If I understand Right, I should not get a Quad Q8650 (or something bla bla) (2,8GHZ) but just save up for a later date i7 motherboard + cpu ?

its up to you and your personal needs for performance, i got my core i7 over a core 2, and it has an amazingly increase in performance over the core 2, but as far as the top end quad goes im not sure.

if you have money to blow then ya go the newest and greatest, if yer on a budget get a quad, u wont be disappointed.
