Hello. I just purchased a new laptop with Vista already formatted on the system. The problem is that it didn't come with a Vista CD. It's running a bit slow so I was wanting to put XP PRO on it for now until it is no longer supported and then later reinstalled Vista and put more memory in it later. **If before installing my XP PRO I make a copy of the Vista that's on my system now, will I then later be able to reinstall Vista even though it's been deleted from my partition? Or will will putting the XP on my system and deleting the Vista make the Vista CD I make unsuable to reformat my partition with it? Thanks, Berean.

Here's a few suggestions, See if where you purchased the laptop from will give you the CD that is for the OS you have on your laptop. You could partition your hard drive and install XP then have your laptop boot from there. Get a second hard drive and install xp to it and boot from that, or you can get a program that will copy your entire hard drive but I'm not sure of the legality of copying Vista or any other microsoft software for that matter.
