Hi, I have a sony FE880E laptop and I was just wondering if it's a wise idea to just take the battery out and use the laptop with AC power only. My laptop is stationary 99% of the time. The only time I move it is to take notes at class (college) and then it goes back to the my desk in my apartment. I guess I would just plug the battery in for when I take it to school, but other than that can I just use it with ac power and without the battery while in my apartment? (currently I use it with AC power and the battery in it. Afraid to use it without the battery in it and AC power only because I don't know what would happen.)

I was just wondering if it would ruin the hard drive, system files, the system itself, the motherboard, anything at all? Would it ruin the laptop overtime if it doesn't run without the battery in it even though it's powered by AC 99% of the time?

Give it a try. It will either work or it won't. :D
I run my Toshiba Tecra A7 laptop, on AC power (without battery) most of the time.;)

Remember that without the battery connected, if you lose AC power for any reason, you lose what you are working on.( Bazza

I tend to run both of mine when stationary in the house or office, with the battery out.

as mentioned depending on laptop it will or wont work, but no harm in trying.
