Somehow, after installing XP SP2, and using Norton Virus with current updates, the old trojan.byteverify virus got through and required me to reinstall XP. I looking through the TomCoyote forum, I came across numerous discussioin on AVG, a free virus software package, and hav since seen it here.

Question is, now that I am once burned twice shy, can I have two virus protection software packages active at the same time for added protection? Does that even make sense? Will AVG run without conflict with Norton?

No it is not wise to have 2 AV applications "resident" or live scanning at the same time, they will not play happy together, however you can have 2 installed so long as 1 out of the 2 is not scanning live, so if you want to run the second one you will need to disable the first from running, alot of hassle where there are some other easier options below.....

another option is to install this trojan, dialer etc etc program as it works well with other AVs.
