Can I Target A Single Context Menu Item In A Group?

    When right clicking on Word or Excel files, I have three Adobe entries in my right click context menu of Windows 11:
    • Convert to Adobe PDF
    • Convert and Share with Adobe PDF
    • Combine Files in Adobe Adobe PDF
    The first and the last I use a lot and find very helpful. The middle one (Convert and Share with Adobe PDF) is always in my way and not something I'd ever use. I know there is a way to disable all the Adobe entries from the context menu, but is there a way to target JUST the "Share" version and remove it, while leaving the other two? Or is an all or nothing situation?

    You could try Shell from https://nilesoft.org/ "It also provides you a convenient solution to modify or remove any context menu item added by the system or third party software."

    Solution:

    Thanks for the info. This is only going to be an issue for folks (like me) who install the old version of Photos Legacy on Windows 11 (I don't believe these appear otherwise). Here is how I fixed it.

    You can search "Create a new video" or "Edit with Photos" in the registry, and it will give you these locations and registry keys:
    • Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\MrtCache\C:%5CProgram Files%5CWindowsApps%5CMicrosoft.PhotosLegacy_2024.11070.10002.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe%5Cmicrosoft.system.package.metadata%5CS-1-5-21-3781113242-3559829491-3761455485-1001-MergedResources-0.pri\1daf716cc2fc622\fae8ab0e
    • @{Microsoft.PhotosLegacy_2024.11070.10002.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe?ms-resource://Microsoft.PhotosLegacy/Resources/CreateVideoWithPhotos}
    • @{Microsoft.PhotosLegacy_2024.11070.10002.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe?ms-resource://Microsoft.PhotosLegacy/Resources/EditWithPhotos}
    However, manually editing them doesn't work (removing the labels leaves the misc key in the context menu with no title) and they just regenerate if deleted.

    I wasn't able to find them in ShellExView, but ShellMenuView did find both of them. It finds the actual strings at these locations:
    • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppXgc41cpjz8gfdmjvg8h8vcnemkbfknn6w\shell\ShellCreateVideo\Command
    • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppXgc41cpjz8gfdmjvg8h8vcnemkbfknn6w\shell\ShellEdit\Command
    Two easy clicks and they were gone!

    Ooops, disregard that above post...that was for a different context menu issue. Not adobe...admin can delete these two posts if needed.

    Update/Solution (actual):

    So in researching, I've found that the individual entries are not accessible. The closest of come is being able to find the Adobe.Acrobat.ContextMenu entry by searching the registry, or using various context menu editors (that do show the Acrobat menu and let you disable the entire thing, which is not what I want).

    Also, I saw on this post at Stack Exchange, that states the individual entries like "Convert and Share with Adobe PDF" are no longer accessible in the Windows 11 registry, but tied to a .dll file on the system instead.

    So for anyone wondering, it does indeed seem to be an "all or nothing" situation. And since I do need/like the other Acrobat options in my context menu, I'll just live with it.

    It only seems to appear on documents extensions, and not media (like JPEGS, for example).

    I'm glad I just discovered this thread, as I can really use the download mentioned here. However, I am also looking for one for Win98SE. Where can I find one?

    Which item? A context menu editor or a PDF editor?
