Can I use a win/ME era phone modem in a newer MB?

Such as this MB?

This is for a computer I am building for a rural location where phone line internet access is going to be used.

The modem card I'd like to use is from a Compaq desktop. It came with Win/ME (for a time reference).

 

Only if the manufacturer has released an updated driver for the operating system you wish to use,the chances of this though are slim to none as analogue modems aren't used anymore.

Much easier to buy a new one for five bucks.
