Can I use hibernation?

    I have a laptop I use at home and the office - nowhere else. As I am sure I should do, I turn the computer off to move it to the other location. Not a big problem but I wonder if I could instead put it in hibernation? That would save the process of rstarting each time I move it but I don't want to cause any damage to it. Also, what is the way to place the laptop in immediate hibernation?

    If you move it you better turning it off it's a lot safer this way but if not moving you could put it in hibernation.....

    GgreatRon .....personally, I hate hibernation ...seen too many problems with computers not waking up ....would suggest you go to power options and choose standby when you close the lid ..and if you are running with the battery installed, can safely unplug from ac ...move and replug ....if no battery when on ac (saving the life of your battery, by the way) then definetly turn off before unplugging and moving.

    I have seen you post that you dislike "Hibernation" numerous times and always wonder WHY as I have had less problems with "Hibernation" than I have recovering from "Standby" but that is just my personel experience. :)

    @BCGray .....probably a function of the particular 'puters we're dealng with...quirks of the systems ...hibernate has been a real hard power restart on a few of my desktops (which I leave on 24/7)....whereas standby hasn't failed once on any of the laptops - go figure.:)
