can no longer log on

    I was setting up a network between my home computer and my lap top which is a school computer, and when I went to restart my computer, it restarted and then I put in my password and said it couldn't find me on the system... anyone know what I can do... plz help... PLZ!

    Can you be more specific? What OS are you using, are you using a hub/switch, static ip's, a server, did you create your network UID and Password as Administrator? It really could be alot of things.

    xp pro... switch, dunno about IP's. administrator of the lap top created the id and password

    If the laptop is for work use, you will need to setup another profile in XP. Most work networks use DHCP to assign IP addresses and when your at home you will need to assign a static ip. I would talk to your administrator. If you don't know how to assign a static IP I can try and put something together to walk you through a network setup.

    thanks... however, I can't log on to the system... which is my biggest concern... The network I can deal with later.... I just need to be able to log on. It says I may be using the wrong domain, Id or password. is there a way to find out what domain I am using without having to log on to the system... its a toshiba model with a acpi bios, thanks for any help
