Can not install O/S

I have a net-book that I am trying to revive. I formated the drive on another computer and then tried to install win XP pro.

I got an error while the install disk was setting up the install.

0x0000007b (0x0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

I tried a fresh hard drive and got the same result

Both hard-drives are sata drives if that makes any difference.

I did check to make sure the bios was setup for sata.

 

What OS & what service pack?

 

Win Xp Pro. not sure on the SP part. I have had the install disk for years

 

Netbook with CD drive?

Does the error say INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE?

 

are you trying to reinstall same os on netbook as prior or upgrade?

 

its a USB CD drive

the error says that there is a problem or virus with the hard drive and specifies the error as 0x0000007b (0x0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

the O/S is one of several versions of win xp pro that I have.

 

Unless the version of XP you are using has the correct drivers for the netbook chipset, specifically the SATA drivers, you're going to have trouble.

Slipstreaming Windows XP should give you the information you need to bypass this problem.

 

This usually indicates a problem with the boot sectors on the HDD and/or incompatible driver issues.

 

It may be helpful, if you post EXACT error, word by word.

ok I have to admit I'm completely lost here. I have a netbook and I need the sata drivers to reinstall WIN XP PRO.

I can not find the correct drivers

do I need chipset drivers?

Sata drivers?


sorry but I"m frustrated and clueless......bad combo huh?

 

Satrow wins the day with his suggestion. Once I figured out how to use nlite it went through without a hitch.
