I have used linksys wireless card to get onto internet through someone else's connection. I know this may not be incredibly ethical, but I 'justified' it in my mind because I'm only around for another week (moving).

I could connect before. The connection says it's connected with a strong signal, but it won't actually connect to the internet. When I go into the settings and click 'repair connection' it says it can't find an IP address. I'm not sure why this happened as I had connected the past two days.

I'm on a laptop with Windows XP.

    Any ideas?

    to locate an ip address
    start>run>cmd>ipconfig/all>
to fix or renew it ipconfig/release>then ipconfig/renew

Like you said ethically, I can't help you with the other part. Hold on here someone else may assist you further
