can not see hard drive

I re-cased my PC today and put in a second hard drive.
I have a 1tb hdd with the os on and i put in a 650mb second drive but the pc does not show it in Computer yet in device manager it can bee seen.
I am using Vista sp2 32bit.
I am sure i have had this problem before but can not remember the solution.

Hi Bill

Remind me are these drives SATA?

As for 2nd HD enter Disk Managment (in Admin Tools > Computer Managment) and see if the drive lists if it does it may just need to Mark Partition as Active.

Also if it is listing, it also may need drive letter change if a USB pen or DVD is conflicting with the drive letter.

Thanks David Disk manager did the trick,it was unallocated.

These are 2 new Sata drives the old ones (1 X sata and 1 X ide) i tried in the new case this morning and they will not respond at all even when i have all 4 drives in, so i think they are for the rubbish bin.

Hi Bill

Before throwing those drives, check them again and see if the BIOS is finding them ok, is their any sign of life from them, some noise or on some drives their is a small data transfer light underneath.

I know you likely already done this but SATA and Chipset drivers are installed for mobo?

Check also in the BIOS that their is not a second SATA controller, some come with both Intel, Marvell.
