I had that pesky windows police/system defender virus.

i ran combofix and also malwarebytes to get rid of it. i got rid of it but it's still won't enable me to open symantec antivirus

when i goto the file it say "windows can't access VPC32.exe"

auto protect is disabled screen pops up on the bottom left hand corner

In doing a quick search, it seems that VPC32.exe is an executable file that is part of an infection. Furthermore, what a lot of the malware now days is doing is disabling all or part of protection software.

What you should really do is head over to our Malware Forum and run through the entire Read & Run Me First Malware Removal Guide.

That's up to you. I'd let them know you are most likely infected. They probably have their own procedures or may even want to do a clean install.

PS...hopefully, you are responding to my message about being infected. I edited my post.
