A little more information would be helpful. Is this a pc that came with Win10 or is it a Win10 upgrade from Win7 or Win8?

Is Edge set as your default browser? Does your mouse work but not the keyboard in Chrome Or Firefox?

HP laptop came with Win 10 home.(up to date)
    Edge is default.
Firefox and chrome: can`t type. Neither was the default.

I have installed and uninstalled Chrome many times to no effect.

I installed Opera browser and I CAN type (not default browser).

Dell laptop had win 7 pro and I was upgraded to Win 10 pro.
Again I have installed Chrome and uninstalled many times to no effect. (Not default)
Opera also works on this cpr, not as default..

Does your mouse work but not the keyboard in Chrome Or Firefox?

    Yes,everything works normally except typing.

Never a typing problem otherwiseon either cpr.

I have seen this complaint online but never found an answer.

    Glad to answer any questions.

    THANKS

A couple of diagnostics tests you should do - they may not work but they might work. If you haven't done them yet, do them now:

In both Firefox and Chrome - separately and with a system restart in between - go to the relevant settings in each browser and click to check for UPDATES to each browser. You must make sure you have the latest version for each by reading the version numbers after checking on their Release Notes pages to confirm.

Aside from the above, if you have a physical USB wired keyboard, plug it in and check whether the problem exists there too.

So two laptops an HP and a Dell have this problem. I'd start looking at addons/extensions and security programs in Chrome and Firefox. (I don't run Chrome in Windows)
In FF, go to Help and select Restart with addons disabled.
Are you able to type now?

    Thanks, plodr and Max.

    Both browsers are current.
I have uninstalled FF and Chrome and I am giving up on this problem.
    I have opera as backup.
    No addons for either browser.
    I don`t have another keyboard.
    All drivers up to date.

    Appreciate the help.
