I have a Toshiba laptop with non functioning CDrom and a new Toshiba hardrive. I am unable to load any kind of OS to this computer. It is a blank HDD.

Can I connect the Toshiba to my HP with XP using a Cat5 wire and boot up under the LAN? Additionally, could I then download and install an OS from the Internet onto the Toshiba through the HP?

I cannot. Computer BIOS doesn't have that selection. I do have a Floppy disk drive and was thinking about trying to load Ubuntu; only problem is that I don't have a Floppy on my HP and no one I know has a FDD on their computer!

    Thanks for the suggestion though.
