Can this printer be fixed?

Hi, my daughter brought over her Canon i550 color printer hoping that I could fix it. I have already sent one like it to the dump ground but thought maybe I should try and fix this one. When you turn it on the lamp flashes green and orange alternately which supposedly means that only Canon can fix it. They want so much it isn't worth it. Does anyone out there know what I can do to fix it or should it go the way of the one before it? I have already done the troubleshooters. I have XP. Thank you, IceMaiden

possible fix?

Waste Reset
1: Power off printer
2: Hold Resume button then press and hold POWER, the beeper will sound once.
3: Hold POWER and release RESUME
4: Press RESUME twice then release BOTH POWER and RESUME buttons
5: When the indicator lights becomes steady, press RESUME three(3) times. The indicator should be ORANGE.
6: Press Power to set data

Model Type reset

1: Power off printer
2: Hold Resume button then press and hold POWER, the beeper will sound once.
3: Hold POWER and release RESUME
4: Press RESUME four (4) times (Indicator should be GREEN)
5: When the indicator lights steady,

To set to BJC-XXXXX press RESUME one (1) times. The indicator should be orange.

To set to BJ-XXXXX. The indicator should be green. (Do not press resume).

6: Press Power to set data

not guaranteed to work but woth a go anyho!

also have you checked for small bits of paper jammed, changed the ink carts?

No, it doesn't roll. It sounds like it is going to but it doesn't. Yes I checked for jams. Thanks, Icemaiden

I tried both of these. There was never a beep. I continued on anyway and it brought the light back to green until I tried to print and eventually, it was flashing orange green, orange greeen alternately.

The error that I am receiving is 5C00. Does anyone else have an idea how it could be fixed?

Okay, so I've given up trying to fix it. Are there any parts that should be removed to be saved when I dump it, just in case they could be used to fix any other printers in the future? Thanks.

TBH not much of the parts would be usable, maybe the ink cartridge holders, the ink head cleaner pad, USB & power cables or maybe anything you wold think could be broken easily eg. paper holder or flaps
