Can We Rename A User Profile In Windows 11?

I bought a new HP laptop with Win 11 Pro and Microsoft created a user profile, named with the first 5 letters of my e-mail address ("medfa"). In File Explorer, I see six profiles with redundant accounts:

    C:\Users
    ~ Administrator
    ~ All Users
    ~ Default
    ~ Default User
    ~ medfa
    ~ Public

I tried renaming medfa to my first name in Settings, ran Microsoft's Management Console (lusrmgr.msc), used the accounts tool (netplzwiz), also tried the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) to change the profile name; but I still have C:\Users\medfa in File Explorer. Is there no way to rename the profile "medfa"?

Those other accounts are little more than default templates +shortcuts to software that you've installed under the All User's option.

Changing your own account should be possible: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts\Manage Accounts\Change an Account

No, you are mistaken. Changing the account name in Settings does not change an unwanted profile name in the Users directory; in fact, it only adds another profile (I have six already!). Apparently folks do not mind having Microsoft dictate nomenclature in the directory and bloat the registry. Is there anything else I can try?

    Open Explore(r).
Type c and then click on Control Panel in the dropdown.
Click User Accounts, Manage Accounts, Change an Account...

Only actively using an Account contributes to 'bloat', don't use it = no bloat, no nothing.

Registry bloat really isn't relevant here, all User types already have defaults written into the Registry.

    I have 9 Accounts;
    the 2x I use =56GB (at least 16GB duplicated),
3x Temp (Safe Mode repairs after hardware removal/Startup failures?) =1.3GB) and
    2x setup/tested ready jic =600MB,
    Default + Public =1.6MB.

I don't think a rename is activated/written fully until the first login to it.

The easiest way is to create a new account with the user name you want. Give it Admin permissions. Delete the account Microsoft created for you with the user name you don't want.

Avoid signing in to Microsoft or sign out of your Microsoft account in Settings. Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account > I don't have this person's sign-in information > Add a user without a Microsoft account

Thank you for lending a hand. I'm not sure how I succeeded in changing the folder name as the steps were not quite available on my version of Win 11 Pro. But I recall canceling my account with dictatorial Microsoft, signing in as super administrator and using gpedit, or the netplwiz command to rename and delete profiles. Again, thanks for the help: it somehow worked for me.
