Can Win XP Pro join Win XP Home network ?

I have been trying to add a wifi laptop running Win XP Professional to a desktop running Win XP Home for the sole purpose of remote printer sharing capability .

I have identified the desktop workgroup name and enterred the desktop workgroup name into the laptop .

The laptop has been named as per the wifi network setup wizard on the laptop.

All seems to go well until the end, when I get a message that says that the laptop is not allowed access the desktop workgroup .

How to resolve so that I can have remote printing on the printer which is hardwired to the desktop?

The desktop was set to " share printer " .

After disabling the mothership McAfee Personal firewall, I was able to ping both computers and to see both computers in the workgroup.

Thanks to all for guidance .

Will create new posting for new headaches regarding wifi printer not function.

For others -- It seems to me that Win XP Pro has administrative limitations which do not occur in the Home edition . This may involve several levels of permission that needs to be understood . I am still learning.
