AVG keeps popping up a message that I have a proxy.7.BF trojan, but it won't get rid of it for me. I'm hoping Hijackthis will maybe find it?

Can someone please analyze my log below and tell me if/what I need to get rid of?

    Thanks so much! bugg

Please pay attention to what Abby said. Proper versions must be used for each program. Even your HijackThis version was out of date. It is up to version 1.98.2 now.

Wow, that's weird. I just downloaded HijackThis yesterday so whatever version they had is what I downloaded. I guess I'll try again.

Download all items only from Majorgeeks and you will have the correct versions.

I feel kind of afraid to ask this question because I feel that I offended someone by posting my hijack log, but I don't know what else to do, so I'll ask anyway and hope for the best.

So if I download the latest version of Hijack This, am I not allowed to post my log unless someone asks to see it? I read the read me first thing that Abby posted, but honestly I don't understand how to do most of the steps in those instructions. I dont understand why AVG is finding this trojan but won't clean it off.

If you were able to download and run HijackThis and post a log back here you should be capable of doing the steps in the link provided. But I help you along the way but giving you some step by steps procedures to follow and we will skip some of the items in the link for now.

First answer a question for me, do you have a dial-up connection to the internet (this would be an analog modem using your telephone line) or do you have a permanent connection like ADSL or Cable Modem?

Okay, I want you to run these online scans and tell me if the find anything and if they fix it or fail to fix it:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp <---- Select Auto Clean, you will see it when you get there.
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm
    http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

    Now download and run:
    McAfee Avert Stinger: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4063.html
    Avast Virus Cleaner: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4188.html

Let me know the results of the above. Tell me if you have a problem doing these steps. Describe what it is that you don't understand how to do.

    I think I fixed it!

To answer your questions, I was scared about starting in safe mode because I tried that once and it hosed something up. Guess I did it wrong.

I have a cable modem. I did the ccleaner. I also scanned w/Spybot and Adaware and A2 and they didnt find anything. So I tried the Houscall thing you mentioned and Panda and they found nothing but AVG was still whining at me that the trojan was there. So I ran the Trojanscan thing and the virus cleaner and still nothing. In between all of those I had to restart a few times. The last thing I did was run AVG again and it didn't find anything. So somehow I think its gone, although I'm not sure how!

So thank you very much for your advice. It seemed to do the job. I greatly appreciate it. The jerks who make these viruses and stuff really take the fun out of having a computer. Thanks again!
