if you purchase your cpu in u.s., can you purchase software from u.k. and get same results from computer program (e.g., word) as when purchased locally? does it really matter since language is english for both?

Worst problem that I could think of would be minor keyboard layout differences.:)

Shouldn't be any prob as far as I'm aware I DL apps from u.s. and I'm in Aust and haven't experienced any probs. Most apps nowadays offer so many options that the probably just build 1 English model and shipp it to all English speaking nations were you modify the local settings.

Shouldnt be a problem as most if not all software, generally installs with a default of US English and if it doesnt, most likely their will be an option on install or post install the change the language of the software, as Novice said in the unlikely instance of some software may have a few shortcut/key differences.

So long as you have your Operating System keyboard layout set to your countries as I gather will be USA, then Microsoft software and/or others generally adapts to that layout for its keyboard assignments, but you may have to in Office applications set the default spellchecking language to US English from US ( however IIRC Office defaults to US English anyway as I can remember changing it twice to UK English ) as in essence its English but US and UK have subtle differences in spelling of words.

if you're saying it's safe to purchase international software (english), i thank you for your input!!! so, in other words, you would purchase and install on your pc?

Yes, I have a US copy of OfficeXP that worked fine on my English PC and setup of Windows XP,

however while I have thought of it, a cavet to this would be financial software as it does tend to be country specific as their are way to many differences in the financial markets or Tax to sucessfully change or use, MS Money is one such that has specific country versions.
