Just wondered if anyone here can write a win 7 driver for a Konico Minolta 2200 Desklaser printer, drivers are available for all other OS but they have not published a win 7 one, I have one of these printers which I am very happy with, Searching the web produces nothing only fellow owners looking for the same thing.
If I am forced to scrap it I will not buy another Minolta product.

In many cases a Vista driver will work in Win 7. You could try that.

That's what people tell me, but I have not been able to find one.

I'm sorry but you did say drivers were available for all other OSs, although when I had a look on their (UK) website I couldn't find any at all.

I wouldn't count on anyone in here coding a legacy driver for a specific printer that may no longer be manufactured. I'm not even sure whether that would be possible without disassembling the Minolta software, and I'm pretty sure such action would be expressly forbidden without legally binding written consent from the manufacturer. I think it's time for a new printer.

Well that's it then, scrap a perfecty good printer or go back to XP which is no longer supported.
Just another way to rip us off.

There is one other option open to you - set up Win 7 XP Mode, install your printer in that and use it as a network printer.

    Earthling.
Could you please explain how I do that. I'll try it, but at the moment the damn comp is giving me problems, bootmanager missing, just as i had got all the drivers and win updates installed, was just about to make a recovery disk. well that's computers for you.
    Thanks.

Read about and install XP Mode HERE. You do need at least Win 7 Pro though - it's not available for Home editions.

You can say that again. I've got half a basement full of perfectly funtional computer electronics that are no longer compatible with my current (newer) OS.
Earthling's XP within 7 suggestion is an interesting possibility. It's probably your last best option (assuming you have the required install of Win7).

@Earthling, welcome back to earth ;)

We have many old DeskJets which have such great and unique services (such as the ability to print on continuous form paper, allowing 12 or 20-page full-color banners). We've been lucky that these still have acknowledged-to-exist driver support but our software (to create those banners) is getting to be the bigger issue. That's why we'll keep XP boxes.

In olden days of first non-HP lasers, there was usually an Emulate HP LaserJet option IN those printers. I am wondering the Minolta has some menu system and a choice of Emulators? Then, if you've tried to 'claim' your Minolta is an HP LJ III or IV? (I can't remember what happens when I lie about attached equipment... does Windows simply call me on it and refuse? I swear... I wish I could get Ballmer's shiny dome to work IN customer settings sometimes...ah, the joys of those ivory towers.)
