cannon ip3000/ hp printers

Good day,
Can someone please help, I have this two printer and neither of them is printing but pictures, not letters except if they are bolded and big large font.
I just re-installed the drivers and they are recognized however the problem persist.
Just one merr thing, I run, windows xp. and the printers were working before not problems what so ever, and they both have the same problem.

are you sure you still have some mono (black) ink ?

also got to
control panel
printers and faxes

right click on the canon printer
and select properties
select the maintenance tab
and run through cleaning and nozzle check

repeat for the HP
(should be similar to the canon properties)

 

I'm sure I have enugh ink, all kinds of it acually, I will do as sugested and will post back
