Cannot access internet

    I have a problem with my internet connection
    System XP
    Firewall CA (currently turned off)
    I can ping the ISP via IP address but cannot if I enter their www address
    I have reset winsock.
    I have turned off known firewalls.
    The status looks like it is sending packets ok but not recieving any.

    I know its simple but cannot sort out the problem. Is their any software out there for testing network problems for a simple user who is asked to fix other peoples computers from time to time. Something that would monitor firewalls would be handy.

    Ok I have fixed the problem. I did restore. That fixed the fault but I am none the wiser as to what was causing it.
