    Hello
My desktop and laptop are almost identical and the settings are the same. I can access the MG forum with the laptop but not the desktop. This applies to both explorer and FF.
All is updated and I have cleared everything, run a/v scan etc.
I can try to find out how to disable addons in FF if that is the next step.
    Please advise.
    Thank you

You need to describe what happens when you try to access MG on the desktop.

What security software are you running?

Can you get it by entering 50.23.143.68 in the address bar?

I shall do the sme with FF.
Thank you very much for your continued support.
I'd be lost w/o you kind folks.

MG moved to new servers recently, but your DNS hadn't updated.

    Hi Peter

I shouldnt be the cause but in Windows there is a local DNS resolver cache and at times it can become corrupt, it should refresh itself every week IIRC, but may not do, so try this as well,

Open an elevated CMD prompt if using Vista/7 and to do this type CMD into the Start Search box and then type CMD and right click it one it shows in the list and choose Run as Administrator, then type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter do this twice, and then restart the browser and try again, maybe even a reboot and try.

    >>I did as you said and it said it was successfully flushed. Thank you
Btw, tech came by and said Driver Sweeper made no sende as different card. I lost the argument.
The graphics card needs a DVI>VGA adapter which he lacked so all was in vain.
I guess a reschedule will occur. At lease the power supply was done. I feel the adapter makes this a less than new pc but he said to try the upgraded card and if trouble, he gave me the # to call for a new BUT different machine.
I just thought you would lie to know and thank you for keeping me in touch with MG's.

    ipconfig /flushdns

    Hello
Is it a good idea to periodically perform this command prompt, ipconfig /flushdns , as routine maintenance like running %temp%?

    Hi Peter

If the tech said Driver Sweeper made no sense as a different card and your old one was ATi and the new one an Nvidia, then he know jack diddly! the driver files could conflict and a clean uninstall of old driver files is a well known troubleshooting technique and has been for many years (at least 20 I know of), also shows the professionalism if they came unprepared! no DVI > VGA, that should have been research there end before coming out.

I hope the DNS flush helped you with your internet issues, as I know it helps me with a weird issue in work with a Citrix remote server connection, I know the fix potentially but I am not an IT worker in my workplace so no admin rights for me.

    Cheers for the update.

    Re: ipconfig /flushdns

Not really, the Local DNS resolver cache in Windows should theoretically update every 24hrs but I've personally always felt that this is open to corruption like any other cache,

However its a good tool to use in the first instance like clearing cookies and temps to resolve a internet issue, just rules out one more step of troubleshooting.

    >>I agree with you about this hardware tech who knows no software and will have the ati drivers gone when he shows up
I understand about the flush also. Good luck with the nags or puppies.:wave

    Hello
I wanted to report a solution, new to me, to access this fine forum in the event that flushing the dns does not work.
Delete your old 'favorites' route and type Major Geeks in a search bar to enter by this new route. Then make that the new favorite. I believe this occurred in my case as the result of a new hard drive followed by the installation of flash drive with my old favorites.
Pardon the redundancy if this is a known solution.
