I am not able to activate windows. Windows will not let me log in until I activate it. I have tried to contact Microsoft Customer Support and eMachines Customer Support but neither were helpful. Any help you guys can offer would be wonderful. Thanks!

I am not trying to get around the activation. I am just trying to figure out how to get it to activate. I have called MS and they seem completely unable to even comprehend my problem...

When you try to log in, it will say "You cannot login until you activate. Do you want to activate now?" and you'll click "yes". Then it will give you 3 choices: one will be to activate by internet, another will be to activate by phone, and the third doesn't matter. If you are connected to the internet (and have modem or network drivers installed) you can try to activate via the internet. If it comes up with a message saying that the product has been activated too many times, or that you may have entered the wrong product key, check the product key sticker on your PC (or in your XP install CD's folder) and type it in again, and try internet activation again. If it still won't go, or you don't have the means to activate via the internet, then you must use the phone in method. You'll select "activate by telephone with a customer service representative". The next window that comes up will have a few things you need to do: the first is to choose the country you're in by clicking the little downward-pointing arrow. That will cause a phone number to appear. You will call that number and follow the instructions. You will need to read a long installation ID number that will be on your screen; you'll need to answer some basic questions like "is this your first time activating this copy of Windows?" and "how many PCs have you installed this copy of Windows on" and so forth, and you will need to enter a new long installation ID number that will be supplied by the voice on the other end of the phone. When you're done, click "next" when instructed. Then you should get a "Thank You" screen, and you're done. It's really easy, takes maybe 5 minutes, and if everything is legit you probably won't even speak to a breathing human; it will all be automated....
Here's a link complete with screenshots that shows you what to expect on-screen....

Good luck! I hope this helps!
