Cannot burn DVD

    HELP!! A friend has a 2004 HP Media Center PC, DVD+RW, 8x. Cannot burn a DVD using the HP (Sonic) software. It ruins the target DVD+R disc. Tried different brands, same thing. I sent him my external USB2 DVD writer and he can't burn to it either. Tried Burn4Free software and the Burn or Copy button was grayed out, could not even try. It appears to burn a CD ok.

    Any ideas?

    whats the cpu speed??

    how much ram?

    takes a bunch to burn dvds

    3 GHz CPU
    1G RAM
    200G HD

    i have nero which always works. tell him to try the 3 day version from http://ww2.nero.com/enu/index.html also tell him to download the manuals they are very helpful. he needs to do a few things like make chapters to be able to burn a vcd, svcd,dvd, mindvd. and yes i have burned every kind of these.
