First off, great site. I used the trojan/virus elimination steps the other day and found some things I couldn't find with just my anti-virus proggie and adaware.

Now to my problem. Recently, I had massive amounts of traffic (up to 1 gig a day) reported over my wireless DSL by my provider. That's why I went through and cleaned my system. While I did this, they disabled my account. I got it all cleaned and my account was reactivated. I also installed zone alarm and bandwidth monitor pro so I can keep an eye on my bandwidth usage myself. Sa far so good (meaning just normal internet traffic).

However, I have not been able to access cetain areas of the web. I cannot connect to ANY FTP outside of my provider's FTP. I cannot access my nntp server (corenews as my provider doesn't do nntp). I cannot access certain websites like my online banking, PGE or SBC. I can get to those homepages but once I try to log on, I get errors. Opera says "Could not connect to remote server" and IE says "cannont find server" But, I did download and use Netzero earlier today and had no problem connecting to these websites via dialup.

My provider (only DSL available in the remote area I live in besides $$Direcway$$) says they don't see anything wrong on their end and claim it's on my end. I've reinstalled my network card, Internet protocals and my SMC router time and again with no luck.

Please help. Not sure what infor to supply so just shoot a request for anything needed and I'll supply it. Thanks

Does anyone else suspect the configuration of zone alarm, or am I way off base?

Zone Alarm would have had the same effect with Net Zero. What this sounds like is that your IP was spamming so many sites, you are on a Ban list of some sort by your IP address. Unless you can go to each site you feel you are blocked and have them grant access see if your providor will give you a new IP address. This is what I suspect since Netzero worked ok, the only difference beside connection type would be IP address.

Didn't think about the IP address thing. That's a good place to start tomorrow. Thanks.

I did try a few other things today, but none of them worked. I bypassed the router with no luck, used my wife's computer with no luck and even reinstalled windows on her computer with no luck. UGH. My ISP is coming by tomorrow so I'll have them check it out. I just hope it is something on their end or they're gonna rack up $65 an hour while here :(
