cannot connect to xbox live

i cant connect to xbox live. it will say "cannot connect to xbox live, try again later" or something like that. But the thing is sometimes i will make it farther than other times. Im trying to sign up for xbox live so someimes as soon as i click join xbox live that error msg will come up but sometimes i will make it to picking my gamertag and then the error msg will come up.

i have a netgear WGR614 v6 wireless router but i am not using a wireless connection for my 360. its wired. when i do the network test everything is fine except for the NAT which earlier today it was moderate but now its strict. im not sure if this has anything to do with it though. any help would be great because i just bought four 3 month xbox live subscription cards

 

Does your router have a DMZ or NAT pass-through that you can use? I just switched our PS3 over to pass-through, and it can now connect just fine, both in-game and to the Playstation Network.

As for the 360, strict or even moderate NAT frequently interferes with Live connections, and your ability to connect/host in multiplayer. Switching from strict NAT to moderate vastly improved our Xbox Live connectivity.

You need to find out the IP of the unit you wish to use. Just be aware that using DMZ will bypass any security that the router uses. Typically it is NOT recommended. Just use it as a test.

ok i think i fixed that but now i made an account but all my other game saves and the gamerscore or whatever is on my other regular profile. how can i get them copied to my xbox live profile?

 

I'd like to know myself. But, I believe we are both out of luck.

 

Well, you can't. Xbox Live uses two different gamer cards for your account, one local, one for online. You cannot move information between the two, so whatever gamerscore and achievements you have on one will forever remain there. They can never be merged.
