I'm having difficulty adding a line to my HOSTS file. I get the message, "cannot create the C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct."
I had no problem adding the line on my laptop running XP, so I'm wondering if there's some setting off on my PC running XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like some other program is keeping you from editing the file. If you are using Zonealarm, that will keep you from doing it... If that's not it.. try rebooting into safemode and editing it there.

Did you check if the file has the "read only" attribute?

Sorry. I hit the tab key and it sent my post before I finished! Anyway the "read only" attribute was the culprit. Thanks for the help!
