Well I an unable to delete this file from my external HDD. I was able to delete other files, but this one just doesn't want to go. I have gone into properties and undone the read only, and I also tried to delete it through Malwarebytes FileAssassin with no success.

Here is the pics of what is showing up........

    Hello,
Try deleting it offline using a linux distro like Puppy.

I don't understand what you said......Where do I find this Puppy? If I read correctly you are suggesting that I install another OS?

    Can you explain some more?:confused

Puppy is a small operating system (linux). It is a Live CD which means you install nothing. Everything will be in memory when you boot up with it. You download the iso file and then burn it with a burning program like Imgburn or Nero. You cannot just copy the iso file to a CD. It has to be burned as an image file. After you burn the iso, boot the CD with the external drive connected. When you get to the Puppy desktop, there will be a icon for your USB drive in the lower left corner. Just click it and the drive will mount and a window will open up. Navigate to the folder and delete.

You could also do the same thing with Hiren's boot cd and select MiniXP at the bootup screen. This is a small version of XP and you can try to delete the file with it but Hirens is over 400MB and Puppy is about 100MB.

Sorry, that just seemed like too much work. I ended up backing up all my files, and then reformatting the thing. That worked fine.

Thanks for info on Puppy - malware is getting smarter, it is just a matter of time before it makes its way into EPROMs but for now Linux distros help get around Windows weakness. :)
