My comp wont let me delete certain files
its says file in use but there is nothing else running.
It tends to happen with files i delete using the program that they run through.
They are still on the HD when i check then they say they will not delete because they are in use.
Can anyone help. or should i call the A Team.

You need to know what or where, in general, the file is. Typically, when cleaning your hard drive, a file or 2 will not delete, but will with a reboot. These are usually temporary files in use by your browser and will show as being in some sort of temp folder.

If its something else, make sure you WANT to delete it and that you do not need it and stop the program. In windows xp, you can use ctrl - alt - delete, go to processes and kill the running program. Odds are, though, it might be in startup or services, so check there so the program does not continue running.

If you know the filename, we can probably assist you further, if needed.

Its just avi files and an exe. i have downloaded.
Reboot does not work as i have tried it.
The files have stayed in the same folder as they always were but when you click on them to delete it says file in use, i have closed down everything running on the pc.

if you have the folders enabled for web content, then when you click on an AVI, it will load at the left. That locks the file. Disable web content for the folder and then try deleting your AVI files.

If you downloaded them using Kazaa and they are in your shared folder, it may be that someone is trying to upload them. They won't delete then. Make sure you have closed kazaa properly, not just used the black X which just drops it to the taskbar.
