    i tried to delete windows.old folders from previous versions of windows with the disk cleanup tool and it got rid of about 90% of the files but now it left unremovable folders with random numbers, When i right click and view them their 0 bytes but when i right click to delete them nothing happens doesn't even ask to delete

    Try from the command line or a live Linux distro or unlocker, you can choose to delete next boot.

    tried Linux and it said there's no directory fot the folders and i tried two unlockers none worked, tried file shredder and it just renames the folders, scanned for malware and viruses and none were found.. And i tried from cmd and it doesn't detect the folders as existing at all it acts like they were never there to begin with

    Save this batch code (text file with extension .bat instead of .txt)
    Code:
    @echo off &setlocal
    set "d=C:\Windows.old"

    if not exist "%d%\" exit /b

    takeown /f "%d%" /r /a
    attrib -s -h "%d%" /s /d
    rd /s /q "%d%"

    pause

    Right click -> Run as Administrator

    Did nothing.. the files aren't named windows.old their random numbers, When i try accessing them it tells me "The file cannot be accessed by the system." i was able to rename one of the folders with linux but none of the others will rename and in linux it says that the folders aren't a directory or it doesn't exist i also tried safemode to see if something was just blocking me from deleting and still no results..

    Won't let me add the files to it the files in the folders act like folders when their not and when i dropped it in didn't put anything in the program's window and i tried to open it under the "file" tab and it said the system cannot access this file

    When I could do nothing with a file, I ran a linux live from a USB stick and was able to delete what I needed to through linux. (Porteus - a very small, early version)

    Some of my files were 0 KB, so it seems it would work for you
    . Instead of trying to rename, just delete them. Provided, you are sure what you are trying to delete is no longer needed.

    Didn't work still, Linux won't detect they are there but it displayed the files.. But it's not an issue now because windows formatted itself for absolutely no reason at all and made me lose roughly 300gb of data Yay! "best" system ever i hate windows and everything about it but thanks for the help..
