Cannot display video mode

Hello,

Let me start by stating that I am posting this for my mother. After reading the introductory post, I tried to call her to find out the specs of her computer, but she wasn't home at the moment, but I figured I'd post the problem just in case it was something that could be solved without that information. If not, I will repost once I get that information. I also ran a search on this site but did not find my answer.

The problem is that whenever she starts up the computer, she gets a black screen with a message that reads, "Cannot display the video mode". Any thoughts on why this is happening or how to fix it? If you need more information, please let me know and I will get whatever I can from her.

If she only get's black screen with message, she may have to boot to safe mode first.
