Cannot Download Driver For Bluetooth Dongle

Since my homebuilt pc has no bluetooth I purchased an Insignia (BB store brand?) bluetooth transmitter/dongle to use with some recently acquired Bluetooth headphones. Following the instructions I plugged the dongle into one of the USB ports on my computer. It was recognized immediately, said the driver(s) was being downloaded. But then everything stopped and I got a message from Malwarebytes saying the file might be some form of Malware. I turned off Malwarebytes download protection as I was confident that the software was flagged because it includes some ad stuff which I was willing to tolerate (at least until I can find another bt dongle that doesn't include anything problematic in their accompanying driver software).

At any rate after turning off Malwarebytes I attempted to download the driver again and was almost immediately stopped again by some part of Norton Security software. Wrote an email to Insignia saying do I have to turn off my Malwarebytes and Norton Security in order to download the driver for your bluetooth dongle? What is included in the driver that causes it to be flagged by two commonly used security programs?

Does anyone know anything about this particular driver/problem (designated as BCM20702A0 and listed in my Device Manager under 'Other Devices')?

I've already ordered another bt dongle (different brand) from the evil empire which will be here tomorrow so I can try that one and return the Insignia for a refund. Next time I get a new mother board guess I'll get bt built-in though I read today that sometimes motherboard bt hasn't as strong a signal as the external dongles do.

Anyone have any experience with various bt setups on a pc? Noticed if external bt has stronger more dependable signal than internal motherboard bt? (Assuming, of course, that the bt versions are the same on both devices.)

Still having problems with Bluetooth. I've purchased three different dongles and only one seems to work at all and that one only sometimes. Now trying various Bluetooth "helper" programs but no luck so far.

I'd appreciate any suggestions about better/best way to diagnose and fix problems with Bluetooth not being able to consistently and solidly connect with wireless Bluetooth headphones. I've used these same headphones to hook up with Bluetooth on my Kindle Fire and they work every time I've tried it with my Kindle.

One clue -- Sometimes when attempting to get a Bluetooth connection with the USB dongle on my computer I head music for about 2/10ths of a second and then it cuts off and there's only silence. It's as if some volume limiter is kicking in and cutting off the audio signal but this doesn't happen consistently. I.e. sometimes I connect fine and can game for several hours or listen to music, watch a movie, whatever. Other times I hear nothing at all when attempting to connect and then sometimes there's the 2/10ths of a second or so of audio before it cuts out.
