    hello,
I recently moved my iTunes from an external hard drive (of old defunct computer) to new PC (Toshiba Portege). The tunes did transfer to the newly uploaded iTunes ok. I am unable to edit them though. I've tried clicking on them as well as other forms of normal editing. The old tunes seem to be frozen, unable to be edited. Newly uploaded CDs onto the new itunes on new computer do edit normally though. Any suggestions? Re transfer them a different way (gak) or ?
    Thanks

I'm not an Apple geek; however it could be an issue with Digital Rights Management (DRM).

If the files are still in "Apple" format, Apple requires iTunes software be installed and the PC must be "registered" to your iTunes account. If both of these conditions aren't met, the DRM whammy may prevent you from playing or transferring the music to an iPod.

Side note: This is why I am not a fan of iTunes. Rather than wasting time playing Steve Jobs' version of "Simon Says" for downloading and DRM, I can get the same songs on Amazon in good ole' .mp3 - play 'em anytime, anywhere, any device. :guitar
