XP home is horrible. You might have to connect to the wireless network manually.

Please do an IPCONFIG /ALL from each machine and post the results.

    Allright topkat690,

The windows XP box has the IP address that should be the WAN address of the router.
    All three comps should have addresses as 192.168.2.2 , 192.168.2.3 , 192.168.2.4 .
All three should have the routers LAN address 192.168.2.1 for their Default Gateway,
    DHCP and DNS.
All three should be set to DHCP enabled Yes and Autoconfiguration Enabled Yes.
The above is how they will all be set when things are right.
Are you familiar with your routers control interface, and owners manual?

We have to start with setting the router up right, and the comps will line up like ducklings.
Let me know about the manual and when you want to walk through this.

The wireless connction on WindowsXP60GB is not able to connect to the access point as well. Get the other stuff squared away as BAD_FROGGER has suggested and then address the wireless.

    Hi topkat690,

I have a copy of the manual, and i'm willing to walk through this with you.
The trckiest part is if you make changes that cause loss of connectivity.
You will be on your own untill you get back on line.
I wanted to be sure you had the manual so we could be on the same page
    so to speak.
Did my post above make sense to you about how the addresses are messed up? and how they should be?
Are you familiar with using command prompt?
    commands like- ping - ipconfig /all - ipconfig /release - ipconfig /renew ?

I have to see someone right now about a new job. So if you want skim through the manual and i'll be back in a couple of hours. to answer any questions and walk through if need be. Cool?

    Bad out.

Can you pick one to use to get the router sorted out and connect it with an ethernet cable to the router?

  19. topkat690

    topkat690 Private First Class

Here is how it is setup
#1. Main pc is connetected to the dsl modem and the modem is connected to the Belkin router
#2 is my laptop which is wireless which is no longer connected
    # 3. pc up stairs which is no longer connected
    # 4 pc in other room is wireless and connected now

    that's how it is setup

  20. Bad_Frogger

    Bad_Frogger Corporal

    If I am understanding correctly
That could be the root of the problem.

The DSL modem should have only 2 connections.
One to the phone line, One ethernet cable to the router.
None of the PC's should be bypassing the router.
Don't change it yet I don't want to lose you.
    Is this right?

  21. topkat690

    topkat690 Private First Class

    correct

  22. Bad_Frogger

    Bad_Frogger Corporal

    Ok,
    thats the main problem.
You are going to have to change the wiring around.
And I'm going to lose you for a bit.
You have to disconnect the PC from the modem.
Connect One cable from the modem to the router,s WAN plug in.
Then connect the PC to one of the LAN plugins.
You may have to reset the router to get it to get the external WAN IP address from the modem.
Use the manual to reset the router and get the one connected PC
    set up to work.
Basically starting from scratch like new.
Have a look at the procedure in the manual as if new set up.
and make sure you have no questions to ask before you start.
I'll hang out for any questions?

  23. topkat690

    topkat690 Private First Class

That's the way it is the yellow ethernet cable is going from the modem to the router and the blue cable is going from the router to the computer and the phone line is connected to the router

  24. Bad_Frogger

    Bad_Frogger Corporal

The phone line goes to the modem.
One cable from modem to router.
One cable from router to PC.
