HELP!!! I have Vista and am trying to burn an avi file to dvd to watch on player. I have tried using dvd maker, convertxtodvd and roxio. None of them have worked! It's driving me crazy!

can you play the avi file? you may need to make sure you have the correct codecs first.

    try dvdflick

Yes the avi file plays fine on the computer. I did update the codecs and used a program to check the codecs, which said they were okay. Would I still need to worry about codecs with the programs convertxtodvd or roxio?

i believe so, but if you say it's fine, then there might be something else going on...one off chance suggestion is to use virtual dub to re-encode it.

Oh, I have also tried dvdflick. There seems to be some kind of compatiblity issue going on with Vista. All of the programs go through the motions and seem to be burning, but then when I take out the dvd and check there is nothing on there.

then your problem might be with burning the dvds actually encoding the avi's.

can you choose to make an .iso of the dvd before burning it, and use something like daemon tools to load the iso, and see if it plays.
