cannot get rid of WindowsXP has detected new hardware error

I am running windows XP. I downloaded the driver update for XP for my Canon multipass C530 printer and installed the software. The printer is working and is printing. My problem is that I keep getting the "Windows XP has detected new hardware message", it hasn't passed windows testing, and may not work properly,(blah, blah, blah,). But it does work! I just want to get rid of the annoying alert everytime the computer restarts. Any suggestions? Thanks

 

is there a yellow mark in your device manager.

 

Yes, there is a yellow question mark by other devices ,universal serial bus (USB) controller, but the printer is connected by a printer cable.

 

try clicking on the printer and uninstall drivers when window restarts and tries to install drivers click cancle. and install drivers from the manifactures website.

 

Sorry , how do I uninstall the drivers? Do I have to uninstall the software?

 

go to device manager. right click the printer driver. and press uninstall.

 

There is nothing under device manager that says, "printer". The only thing I could find related to the printer is under "ports", it lists the printer port. Thus my comfusion,(although I am easily confused!

 

go to your printer port (lpt1) click properties. go to driver tab. and uninstall.

Update! Everythibg is working great on my settings, however on the other users on XP the printer is not working and a error message comes up that "failed to start mutipass monitor. Please restart computer and try again! Any suggestions on how I can get this darn printer working for the other XP users, (who are administrators)?

 

you may need multipass drivers. is it a cannon by any chance. you might want to look for these drivers or somthing to that extent. it may be just a multi user support driver.
