Cannot go into Hibernate when running wireless

    Hi,

Any ideas why I'm unable to put my laptop into hibernate mode when I'm running on wireless at home, even if I've turned off the wireless connection? When I'm at work and on wireless, I'm fine. When I come home and try and put it into Hibernate, it looks like it's going to (the Closing Network Connections pop-up thingy appears) and it just sits there. I've got an IBM T60 with WinXP Pro XP2, 1Gb of RAM, and I'm using the wireless connection program that comes with the ThinkPad (C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities\ACMainGUI.exe). I have no choice to use this program, it's what my company uses and the image somehow prohibits use of any other program.

Not a huge deal as I go for coffee when my laptop's booting up in the morning, but just more of an "Hm, that's odd" sort of thing.
    Appreciate your help!
    Chris

Was it always like this or is it a new problem? Is it consistent or is it just occurring now and then?

WOW! This is strange! So, let me get this straight: the same laptop, when using the wifi at work, it hibernates just fine; at home, it doesn't. That makes no sense. NONE! roflmao My suggestion is equally as senseless; try powering off the router (unplug the power cord from it) just to see if that makes a difference. It shouldn't, but with bizarre problems come bizarre fixes ;) LOL

Let us know if you get this figured out.

-I'm assuming that you use the same user account and hardware profiles at work and at home; this includes network settings, sometimes network settings can be configured for 'Home' or 'Work' or 'Public' (you can do this with Vista) and if you have different network configs for Home and Work, you'd have issues (I think). Do you have the 'power save' box enabled? Go to the device manager, right click the wifi adapter listed in network adapters, click properties, click the power management tab. If there's no power management tab, then nevermind ;) Look at the screen shot below for reference....

    Hi Cordialis,

I've only recently had the admin privileges set up (and promptly set up the hibernate mode); however, about 2 months before that my wireless was giving me trouble and I had to have the IT guys go in and reconfigure the ThinkPad utility. All that to say I'm not sure which came first. As far as frequency, it's 100% of the time when I'm at home and 0% when I'm at work. Same utility, but a) I'm logging in through VPN here at home and b) different wireless account. Prior to logging off, I disconnect my VPN and turn off the wireless card, and don't see anything in Task Manager that looks like it may be causing the problem.
    Appreciate your time,
    Chris

dlb - You and I posted at the same time - I have reset my router at least twice, and have also reset my modem. Nothing. Different accounts, but everything else in the settings are the same. I do have the power save box checked.
