Cannot instal WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 11 or 12

    MY o/s is Windows XP Sp3. I have tried the WMP download from a number of sources as well as transferring it from another PC which has a working version v6.04 and still my PC won't accept it! As well, I have a working 6.04 onboard but the CHECK FOR UPGRADE option in Help is greyed out and not accessable.

    I wouldn't really care but I have a new MP3 player whose installation disk insists on WMP10 AND WON'T CONTINUE INSTALLING until it's available!

    See if you can find this file: wmsetup.log and post the last 8 entries in the log.

    It should be here: c:\windows\wmsetup.log

    Also what are your PC specs (make/model of PC, RAM, Graphics, Processor) 6.4 is a very old version of WMP.
