Cannot install explorer 8 after installing service pack 3 on XP

Hi

A friend of mine called me a few mins ago with a problem. He has done a format on his computer and installed service pack 3. Everything is running well except for one thing...IE8 is not installed and he cannot install it.

At the moment he has IE6 but when he tries to download 8 it will not allow it. He tells me that all windows updates are up to date but IE8 doesn't seem to have been included with the updates?

I don't have much more info on it so im hoping some of you may have encountered this problem before and know a possible fix :confused

No, I never did have a problem with downloading IE8. If the above doesn't help someone else may chime in with a solution.
