We run Windows XP. Recently hard drive stopped working and, when re-installed XP, lost all files. Repairman put in "used" hard drive and now we cannot load our favorite multiplayer game, i.e. RuneScape. Get message:

"The procedure entry point Decode Pointer could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32."

Also get the following two messages about dlls.

    1. "Error loading C:/Windows/sysem32/NVCpl.dll The specified procedure could not be found."

    2. "Error loading C:/Windows/system32/NVMC Tray.dll. The specified procedure could not be found."

Can anyone tell us where to find these and how to get them onto our PC?

    Hi

Its very likely from the two DLLs you have posted you need to update your Nvidia Graphics card and very likely the Chipset driver for your PC, the Chipset is the first one to install and then reboot (crucial) then install the latest Nvidia driver for your model card, then reboot again and test the game,

if the game not work uninstall and re-install it and test.

If you don't know the hardware in your PC and what drivers to get then follow the below exactly as written.

    David, thank you so much.

I'm going after that "Everest" now and will post the results as suggested in your post.

    My question is:

Won't I need to go get an updated "Nividia Graphics" card before the games will play
...even after I discover from Everest what is needed? My repair man said a new graphics
will cost about $200 and he would need to order it.

David I went to get Everest and downloaded it, saving to a folder I placed on my desktop. When I opened the folder, there were a number of files and one "language" folder in it. None of the files were .exe files; so I had no idea which one to double click to install this program. What did I do wrong?

    Hi

Forgot they changed the Everest free to a standalone app, and yes the .exe is the one, but you can try this newer app below that gives the same info.

I think once we know the model of your PC and or motherboard and graphics card, then an install of chipset and graphics driver may work ok saving you busying a new graphics card, especially if Runscape worked before the re-install of Windows, as that proves your graphics was ok for this game.
