I just got a new Dell Inspiron 570 and I cannot login to Skype. When I try to it takes the Compter-OS(C:)-ProgramData-Skype-Apps-login folder. I have been to the Skype forum, search the web and all solutions don't work. Uninstalled, re-installed, clean install, plenty of cursing un-re-installs, new and old versions.......
I'm pulling out what little hair I have left. Also Youtube in IE9, blank black box, no playable buttons...
Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Sounds like you might be missing something like Flash or Shaockwave by your YouTube issue. YouTube should give you the option to install in your browser. Lets start there.

I just installed Shockwave_Installer_Full and used IE not the (64 bit) and still no luck.
I'm beginning to to really regret upgrading from XP to Win7. I have high blood pressure and yesterday was not a good day for me. I'm not going through that again today.

I went to http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=143007 and I clicked on option 4, but nothing happens.

Please select the option that best applies to you:

    One video stuck on loading
    Various videos stuck on loading
Error message when trying to play the video
    None of the videos play
The video player is blank and white with no video

Windows updates is not driver updates. Download SLim Drivers above, install drivers and lets see whre you are.

I may get banned here, but **** Skype,Win7 and Adobe Flash & Shockwave, this is complete bullshit. I ran the new pc Win7 with no transfers of anything from old pc XP to insure a clean fresh start. I had it. I'm calling Dell to come and get this crap or I will send it back myself.

Major Attitude, thank you help and time.

Afraid so and then I am out of ideas. Its like your Flash is screwing up so that's my last hope. I wish I could solve something the Skype community couldn't but you got an odd one here.

A quick look through this thread and I'm thinking: "I wish I could see all the security software and 'tweaks' that have been installed/uninstalled, applied, etc."

It's a new machine, is it still running a trialware security package?

What software, from the original supplied, has been removed?

    What software has been installed?

Can you find the Dell ST tag # for us please?

    1. It had McAfee installed, not activated, unibstalled it and installed Avast! Free 6.0.1367

    2. None

    3. Avast! Skype Revouninstaller, CCleaner, Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Shockwave, Firefox, Windows Live Mail 2011, jre-7u3-windows-x64

Run the McAfee uninstaller to ensure the dregs have been removed.

It's possible (though rare) that either CCleaner or Revo Uninstaller could have removed something that shouldn't have been. You do have backups made from these programs?

Back in the early days around the time of W7's release, Skype was one of the more problematic of the common software. I only had to attend to it once hands on, it was just a few clicks to fix but I don't recall the details - it might have been UAC-related or a case of install as Admin/run as Admin, enable Windows firewall to allow it, I really don't recall.

OK, will do. I have done already twice.
I do have backups in ccleaner not sure about revo uninstaller (only used uninstall Skype).
    Skype has Windows Firewall permission.

This really feels like there's some tweak/software that's at the root of this.

You're currently using Avast!, have you tested Skype with all Avast! shields deactivated?

As this is a new machine, maybe taking it back to original, as in reinstalling from the Recovery partition/Discs, might be the easiest way to fix it; when done, fully remove MacAfee, and install Avast! (or MSE) - then Skype - nothing else until it's verified as working. Any problems then should be easier to pinpoint.

If you decide to go that route, ensure you have good working copies saved of any and all vital data.

I deactivated all shields in Avast! (really hate doing that), Skype still comes with http://screensnapr.com/v/fxkQsf.png.
I may go the route of reinstalling, but I will have a tech do it. I cannot afford to go through another agonizing event. Too old and of bad health for this crap. I had some what I thought times with XP, but this takes the whole frickin' bakery. The good people here MG have always come through for me in the past. But when I see that Major Attitude (great guy!) is stumped, it's demoralizes me. If it was only me having problems with Skype & Win7, but I see people complaining way back in 2009 and with no resolve. I understand everything can't be perfect, but Skype isn't little program/operation. One has expect better.

I will post back with any positive or (hope not) negative results. Maybe in the meantime something will happen.
So until then, thank you everybody for your kind help.

That still looks like something's blocked by some kind of 'script blocking' security-type tweak = 3rd party interference.

Your problems are probably fixable by someone with hands on the computer - but how long that might take is down to how easy any clues are to follow and the experience of the 'fixer'.

    Good luck :)

Thanks. I do know 2 very honest techs that will do their best to fix this without me sacrificing any body parts (not much left working ones), so I hate to pay for something should have worked straight out of the box is very annoying. I had asked Dell to remove McAfee, but said they couldn't, so I will blame McAfee.

Yeah, something is really f-cked up on this new pc. When I login to Facebook, the page is blank.
Also, I just notice that I can't click on the fonts buttons and other functions above.
Of course, it is something I did either when uninstalling McAfee and running CCleaner and/or at some point Revo Uninstaller.

It's reading more like a wipe and reload with each post :(

Could I try a repair of Windows?

  28. satrow

It's certainly worth trying; don't hold out hope of a 100% fix in this case though, I suspect there are some issues that a Repair install won't cure.

UPDATE!! Re: Cannot login to Skype with Windows 7

Had to do the wipe & install, with the recovery disk I bought with the pc.
    All is good!!
I want to thank all the good people here who tried to help and gave good advice.
